ESSAY OUTLINE I. Introduction: There is much controversy that surrounds the death penalty. The notion of killing an individual through punishment of a crime is seen as cruel to many, but others concur with it. Even though it has caused a worldwide debate, there are improvements that can be made to tackle the challenges the criminal justice faces. II. There should be better definitions on who should be killed A. What can be suggested is a model death penalty regulation. “In short, mass murderers, terrorists, sadistic serial killers, contract killers or other paid assassins deserve to die” (Blecker, 2014). We should define the lowest of our lowest more clearly and penalize offenders more nearly as they deserve. III. With the lethal injection as the latest technique in execution, should there be an alternative? A. “In Texas, there have been three botched injection executions since 1985.
