The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination act of 2008 also known as (GINA) was signed by President George W. Bush, is a federal law that was created to protect those from genetic discrimination in health insurance and employment. GINA makes sure that no one is being discriminated or treated unfairly because of their differences in their DNA. Their DNA may consider situation where as the patient may have a gene mutation that can be inherited through their genes. Both federal and state laws have helped protect people against genetic discrimination that may occur. GINA has been broken down into two different parts, Title 1 prohibits genetic discrimination in health insurance,which makes it illegal for health insurance providers to use genetic information to make a decision for insurance eligibility and coverage.Title 2, prohibits genetic discrimination within employment and the person applying. Also Title 2 states that it is illegal for any company to use a person's genetic information when making a decision when it
