Name, history and background
Founded as an importer of Japanese shoes, NIKE, Inc. has grown to be the world's largest
marketer of athletic footwear, holding a global market share of approximately 37 percent.
Nike
Inc., has been around for 54 years.
The brand started in 1964 with $1200 in the bank; it was
founded by track/field coach Bill Bowerman and a middle-distance runner Phil Knight.
