Christina Persiani Homework #2 9-17-2007 1.) For my comparison I chose to use Lay’s Kettle Cooked Mesquite BBQ Potato Chip, Baked Cheetos, and Snyder’s Hard Sourdough Pretzels. Comparing them to each other, the BBQ chips had the most total fat. The BBQ chips had 8 grams of fat, the baked Cheetos had 5 grams of fat and the pretzels had 0 grams of fat. For the BBQ chips the percent fat is about 6% (8/140=.057). For the Cheetos the percent fat is about 4% (5/130=.038). For the pretzels the percent fat is about 0% (0/100=0). If I wanted to eat a reduced fat content I would choose to eat the pretzels because the percent fat is 0% rather than the 4% or 5% in the other two. If a label says something is “reduced fat” it means that the product contains at least 25% less fat than the original version of the product. 2.) For this comparison I chose to use Keebler Golden Vanilla Wafers, Fig Newtons, and Nabisco Mini Chips Ahoy! Chocolate chip. When I compared these three different types of cookies, I found that Vanilla Wafers had by far the most total fat. The Vanilla Wafers had 20 grams of fat, the Chips Ahoy! Had 7 grams of fat and the Fig Newtons had 2.5 grams of fat. For the Chips Ahoy! the percent fat per serving is about 5% (7/150=.0466). For the Fig Newtons the percent fat per serving is about 2% (2.5/110=.022). For the Vanilla Wafers the percent fat per serving is about 4% (20/475=.0421). A low fat cookie that I found was the Low Fat Cinnamon Graham Crackers made by Honey Maid. They had 1.5 grams of fat per serving and 120 calories. The percent fat per serving was about 1%
