February 27 2009 Is behavior a component or predictor of attitudes. Person did study with visiting Chinese couple traveling. Called up hotels, asked if his Chinese people could check in. He found that there was no relationship with response and behavior- as in some epole said no Chinese on phone but let them stay and vice versa. In 1969- metaanalysis - you look at all the research studies related to a topic and you summarize statistically over the studies the power of whether attitudes predict behavior. He took 31 studies and then said there was no relationship between attitude and behavior overall, even though some showed positive or negative correlation. Overall relation ship correlations was low, 0.1. Figure out if you can increase the attitude behavior link. What is going on and how do you increase likely hood of attitudes predicting behavior. Attitude was not measured on same way as behavior (specific vs. general). Example people asking if people have positive attitude of physical fitness is important to health, and then asking if they ran 5 miles today. One is way more specific than the other.
