Arteries • There are 2 coronary arteries – Branch immediately from Aortic sinus • The Right Coronary A • Passes along the coronary groove – Gives off an ascending branch to the SA node – Gives off a right marginal branch • Supplies the anterior almost to apex – Travels posteriorly to the crux (cross)

Arteries - 2 • RCA – cont’d • At crux gives off: – AV nodal branch (to AV node) – Post. Interventricular Branch (P. Decending Br.) • The RCA supplies 2/3 heart’s supply • Reaches: Rt Atr, Most of Rt Ven, Part of Lt Ven, SA and AV nodes

Arteries - 3 • The Left Coronary Artery • Splits into: – Anterior Interventricular Branch • (Lt Ant Descending Br.) • This passes along the IV groove to apex – Circumflex Br. • Follows coronary groove to posterior – Supplies Left ventricle

Coronary Veins • The Great Cardiac V – Begins near anterior apex – Ascends & runs with circumflex A to coronary sinus • The Small Cardiac V – Follows Rt Marginal Branch to C. sinus • Posteriorly • Left Marginal V – Follows left marginal br. • Lt Post. IV V – Follows post IV br. • Middle Cardiac V – Covers Posterior Inferior surface Coronary Veins - 2

Cardiac Innervation • Innervation through cardiac plexus – Autonomic nerve fibers, P and S – Lie on ant surf of Trachea in sup mediastinum – Distribution is to and along coronary vessels and cardiac conduction system • The two autonomic systems are antagonistic Cardiac Innervation - 2 • Sympathetic Supply – Increased HR, conduction, contraction force – Also increases blood supply
