3 Burns • First degree – Damage limited to epidermis – Redness (blood), edema (fluid), pain • Second degree – Involves part of the dermis – Blistered and painful, epidermis must regenerate • Third degree – Damage exceeds dermis – Extensive damage usually requires grafting
