Primate mPOA What differs is location of steroid metabolizing enzymes. Pattern of sex steroid receptors in M primate brain resembles pattern in rodents (conserved feature). Lesions of medial preoptic area of hypothalamus (mPOA) disrupts copulation w/ receptive F, but  does not abolish erection, masturbation, or ejaculation. Remote electrical stimulation of mPOA in M causes erection & mounting.
