Homework #2(no JMP graphs)
#1.
(a)
Who: The males
What: Their recorded heart rate
(b)
Mean Heart Rate: 72.4
(c)
Median Heart Rate: 72.5
(d)
The Range of this data set is 18. This value is NOT
affected by any outliers because
there are not any outliers within this data set.
(e)
The mean and median of this data set is approximately equal because they both
“ideally” represent the middle of a data set. Since the data is symmetrical the mean will
equal the median.
(f)
Standard Deviation: 4.73
(g)
A five number summary, this information would be more useful to summarize the
data, rather than the mean and standard deviation, because each of the numbers/values
would represent a different part of the data set making it easier for a person to visualize
and/or understand it.
#2.
(a)
Who: The females
What: Their recorded body temperature
(b)
6.15%
(c)
23.08%
(d)
I would consider the shape of this distribution to be normal. The shape of this
distribution is bell shaped, and it is unimodal and symmetrical.
