Parental involvement in school can make a child more successful. Driessen, Smit & Sleegers explained that parental involvement as well as socio economic status and ethnicity will also determine the success level ofchildren (Driessen, Smit & Sleegers, 2005). There are five ways in which a parent can become more involved in a child’s education, parenting, com-municating, volunteering, decision making and collaborating (Driessen, Smit & Sleegers, 2005). Parental involvement encourages children in a positive way and increases their success in their education. Not only does itincrease success, they have better attendance rates than children who do not have parents actively involved in their education. Parental involvement also helps the teachers. There are things that parents can do that can take some of the weight off the teacher therefore allowing the teacher to do more activities with the class and focus more on teaching instead of other small things that parents can handle for the teacher. There are so many ways that parents can help teachers throughout the school year. Growing
