Ryan LeValley Module 4 Capstone Part 1. Explain why Frederick Winslow Taylor believed scientific management would reduce the tension between workers and owners. Include two quotations from the assigned readings to support your argument. Taylor believed that scientific management would reduce tension between workers and owners because it would increase the efficiency of the workers which would increase the profits of the company and then the owner could pay the workers more. The part that mentions paying workers more is “The development of each man to his greatest efficiency and prosperity.”(Taylor, pg. 7) Each man should have their pay increased, but many times, the pay is not increased accordingly. The company keeps the increase while the worker is working more efficiently and harder. There is better harmony between workers and management due to “…an almost equal division of the work and the responsibility between the management and the workmen.” So workers are trusted to do the work that they can be responsible for and management are trusted to do the work that they can best be responsible for.
