Virtual Visit: Evergreen Plantation - The Evergreen...

This preview shows page 1 - 2 out of 2 pages.

The Evergreen Plantation is one of the key plantations in the South of United States History. This historic site plantation is located near Wallace, Louisiana on the Louisiana Highway 18. On the official website, this plantation is known as the most flawless and unbroken complex in the South. It has thirty-seven buildings along with twenty-two cabins that slaves used to live in as well. Evergreen has its country's highest historic designation and joins Mount Vernon and Gettysburg in being granted landmark status for its agricultural acreage. Evergreen is only one of eight major Greek Revival style plantation houses remaining on the historic River Road. It is one of only a handful of plantations that evoke what major plantations resembled in the antebellum period of America's history. Usually only the main house of the planter's family have endured the ravages of time. The website I used was: . By the quality and looks of this website, I did get a very okay, accurate glimpse of the Evergreen Plantation.
