ANOVA Introduction Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a disorder with a prevalence rate of 3-7% affecting one child in every United States classroom. ADHD is characterized by short attention spans, loss of impulse control, and inactivity. Many diagnoses for ADHD are often made in the classroom as many children spend most of their time in a school setting, therefore, teachers must be aware of the signs and symptoms of ADHD. This study was conducted to examine the amount of knowledge middle school teachers in South Texas have on ADHD. The researchers compared the knowledge levels of teachers in three areas: general knowledge, symptoms/diagnosis, and treatment methods for ADHD. The sample consisted of 107 teachers across five middle schools that were predominantly Hispanic in the 2008-2009 school year. (Guerra & Brown, 2012).
