Unit 8 PaperThe Great Society initiative was introduced in 1964 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. President Johnson wanted to ensure that the goals President Kennedy started before his assassination were going to be met and to ensure that the Federal Government was going to be economically secured and civil rights for all. President Johnson was an accomplished legislator and was able to use his power and connections to pass his plans. The Great Society included; TheWilderness Act, The Elementary and Secondary Education Act, The Voting Rights Act, Medicare, The National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, The Immigration Act, The Omnibus Housing Act, Air and Water Quality Act to name a majority of them.
