From the beginning of independence he was not afraidof being too risky for he spoke for the African people and this created problems within thecountry. Lumumba’s main goal was to unite Congo and to stand up against all forms ofcolonization. Soon there was a division in the government between President Kasavubu andLumumba. Kasu-Vubu did not want Lumumba to seek help from the Soviet Union and thiscaused many problems with him actually receiving help and uniting his country. Because theBelgium did not agree with Lumumba’s statements, they played a big part in trying to preventhim from doing many things in his fight to help Congo. The belgium did not act on their own for
