Z SCORES CHAPTER #9 is forming the foundation for everything else in this course 1. What is a z score? 2. What is the normal distribution? 3. Combine these Standard Normal Distribution WHICH SCORE IS “BEST” ? It all depends on the distribution: o What is the spread? o Where is the middle? Z = (X - µ) / (population SD) o THIS IS THE LAST FORMULA YOU WILL NEED TO MEMORIZE She is going to give you a formula sheet! o The Z-score is the deviation score divided by the standard deviation (population) o The Z-score tells you the relative standing (in other words, the number of population SD units above or below µ)
