Tara Larkin Dr. Judith McKelvey Live Performance Interpretation 16 November 2007 Pentecost by David Edgar On November 13, 2007, I saw the David Edgar’s Pentecost performed in the Playhouse Theater. The words “page to stage” cannot even begin to describe the reality and understanding the performance brought to me. I am not a theatre, english, or film major so I was worried about critiquing this play but once I saw it, it became rather apparent what I was going to write about in my paper. The plot to name only a small part of what made this performance a success; also, the techniques used by the character and how I came to these conclusions. The Pentecost is set in an old abandoned church in Europe. Soviet art curator, Gabriella Pecs and art historian, Oliver Davenport find a painting that appears to be the work of a famous artist, Giotto. However, the painting was done a century before the Giotto was even born. The play is focused around who has politic or religious power over the painting and if Giotto was really not the original artist of the painting, that means
