ENGR 111 Technical Memorandum (TM) TO: Dr. Arun Srinivasa, Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department FROM: Cannon, Blake Team 3, Section 203 Subject: Mars Hauler Features, Specifications, and Tests Date: 08:28:41 Re: Mars Hauler Design. PURPOSE/SUMMARY The main objective is to test how well our current mars hauler stands up to the basic requirements and to find where we need to improve our model. These tests and comparisons will ultimately identify our weaknesses and lead us to new ideas to better accomplish the given task of completing the course in the fastest time with the lowest needed power. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AND METHOD The following features either held up to the requirement or revealed themselves to need more work. The force transmissions system needs to be able to support the combined weight of the motor and can, as well as hold up to any danger it may face along the path (rocks, dips, etc). The motion transmission system has no real requirement other than to have an effective gear box and transmission that ultimately relates the supplied power into moving the wheels. The information processing system needs to be able to navigate a curving black path by retrieving its position and relaying it to the wheels to achieve the desired direction of motion. Ideally, the power transmission system would be set on the lowest setting of battery power and
