Unit III 2 I began my record at 530am on Friday morning, the last day of several twelve-hour work days. I generally have trouble sleeping through the night for various reasons such as aches and pains and vivid hallucinations during periods of stress, so I am usually rather tired when I first awaken. In recent months, I have made a point to kick my legs out of bed as soon as my alarm sounds. I have found that getting out of bed despite how tired I am, lends itself to making me feel more alert throughout the day, in comparison to when I would set alarms and hit snooze several times before finally getting up. When this happened, I would feel quite sleepy and lethargic for quite a while, whereas now I’m ready for work within minutes of arising. Over the three days where I monitored my alertness, I found that I generally got quite drowsy after my lunch, usually around noon. When possible, I try to get outside for some sunshine and fresh air after my lunch (I work in a windowless plastics factory), I have found that this helps reorganize my thoughts and help me finish out the day in a better state of mind. At night, I limit my media use in the last hour before I attempt to sleep, studies have shown that using your phone or tablet before going asleep negatively affects your sleep cycle and sleep behavior (Brunborg, et al., 2011). Since I was off on Saturday, I decided to watch a movie until rather late on Friday night. By Saturday morning I felt as though I had not rested and spent

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
