Unit V 2 On February 14 th , 2018, a young man entered his high school and gunned down seventeen of his fellow students. The armed deputy positioned at this high school was seen not entering the school upon hearing the gun shots. On February 26 th , Adam Edelman, a writer for NBC News wrote an article which collected some of our President’s thoughts on this incident (Edelman, 2018). Upon hearing about this cowardly deputy, President Trump leapt to action in an effort to shame Deputy Peterson and bring attention to the fact that more guns means fewer shootings. I am inclined to agree with our President on both matters. Firstly, Scot Peterson should have charged into the school and exterminated the threat. Peterson trained his whole life for this job in addition to being armed. He failed. And now, seventeen children are dead. President Trump remarked that he would have run into the school unarmed if he was there, which begs the question if an unarmed man, with no military training is willing to risk his life then why didn’t Scot Peterson? Since the presence of an armed guard had no effect on the school shooting, Trump suggests that we need to arm teachers, but only those who are naturally talented with weapons. This is a fantastic idea. As soon as the chaos that comes with an active shooter begins, the teachers can load up and put an end to the terrorism before it gets out of hand. Better to kill one or two troubled youths than wait for cowardly deputies to respond. Upon hearing the news that the armed guard at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School failed to enter the school, President Trump saw an opportunity to swell his own ego yet again. He boasted that he would have “run in there even if (he) didn’t have a weapon.” (Edelman, 2018).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
