C489 TASK 1 2 Nursing Sensitive Indicators Nursing sensitive indicators are intended to focus on plans and programs to increase quality and patient care. The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) is a resource for nurse sensitive outcomes which include but not limited to CAUTI’s, patient falls, DVT’s, restraint prevalence, hospital acquired pressure ulcers, and overall job satisfaction. Some states have introduced legislation reflecting this model by the American Nurses Association (Cherry, 2017). In this scenario regarding Mr. J, several nursing sensitive indicators were not followed. This resulted in poor care and even harm to the patient. It was not clear if a full skin assessment using the Braden Scale was performed. A hospital acquired pressure ulcer formed on Mr. J’s lower spine and was reported to the CNA by Mr. J’s daughter.
