Research Questions This study assessed how work as a family professional is uniquely  enhancing and stressful, from the perspective of family professionals  and their spouses. Family professionals and their spouses were asked two open-ended  questions, which were adapted from the Wetchler and Piercy study in  1986. . The first question they were asked was, "How has your work (or your spouse's  work) as a family professional uniquely strengthened your own marriage/family?“ The second question was, "How has your work (or spouses work) as a family  professional been uniquely stressful to your own marriage/family?“

Methods Stressors and enhancers were analyzed by work setting.  Family professionals were asked to  identify their work setting from the following choices: Therapy-Counseling, Education,
