ENTERTAINMENT ENGINEERING Entertainment Engineering deals with the entertainment portion of engineering. Entertainment engineers mainly work with production companies such as Cirque de Soleil. Their work includes work that Civil Engineers might work on. They build stage props from varying sizes, small to colossal. One example where Entertainment Engineers are used is the production of the Cirque de Soleil play KA, where in the play there is a colossal spinning circle. The total cost of creating that play reached two hundred and fifty million. Entertainment Engineers take a variety of courses from the basic mathematics such as calculus, to Physics, to advanced engineering courses such as kinetics and structural courses. Entertainment Engineers also get a lot of hands on training which is required for their course of work. Money is good in the Engineering field as a whole, and Entertainment Engineering is not left out. Entertainment Engineers make great money, right out of college they can earn up to $50,000 a year and with experience reach over $100,000 a year. The internship opportunities are great in Las Vegas as well as it is the Entertainment Capital of the World. Interns can earn great money as well, reaching an hourly pay of over $18. Entertainment Engineering is offered only in a small number of universities in the United States and the rest of the world. UNLV offers a graduate program for Electrical Engineers. Entertainment Engineers won’t only be working on stage props, they can design other attractions such as the fountains at the Mirage....
