When I came here ( Australia ), I got anxiety when I interact with people because of the culture and correcting my grammar. I experienced culture shock towards the differences between Australian food and Filipino food. My first language is Tagalog so I was also having a hard time speaking and understanding the Australian English especially the Australian accents or slang, it’s hard for me especially when I miss home, the Philippines and whenever I wake up, and look at my surroundings (transportation, salary wages, dress, lifestyle) and see how different Australia is from Philippines. D. For me, I think I need to build my self-esteem and confidence, on communicating with other people. because I’m a bit shy because especially on having conversation to educators and family but when it comes to children I’m really good to it. So I think that’s the one I need to develop and overcome my culture shock. To overcome my culture shock, I will be engaging myself to join the local community and to learn the Australian cultural practices and beliefs. 2.
