Dillon Clements English 110 Dr. Ford 5 March 2008 It’s Away We Go! As the sun rose that morning I could feel the anticipation of what was going to happen this evening. School that day seemed meaningless and played second fiddle compared to the anticipation I had growing inside me for later that night. Yes, the day was unlike any other day except for one major missing piece. Today was our sectional track meet and my team was picked to place first which would of course move us on to state competition, our season long goal could be realized. I am unaware of when the anxiety actually set into me, whether it was while I was standing on the oval track jumping up and down waiting for the baton or if it was while I was warming up and looked into the stands to see thousands of people waiting to watch us compete, or if it had ever set in. All I was aware of was the fact that I could not let these nerves get to me. I looked to the three seniors on my team for some comfort but it was to no avail.
