Then elaborate the objectives of ethics with suitable examples. – When most people think of ethics(or morals), they think of rules for distinguishing between right and wrong, such as the Golden Rule( ” Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”), according to a professional conduct like Hippocratic Oath( ” First of all, do no harm”), for a religious creed like the ten commandments ( ” Thou Shalt not kill..”) Thus, the definition of ethics varies. Ethics is the branch of philosophy. According to N.M.Adhikary, ethics is ‘ Motivation is based on ideas of right and wrong’ and ‘ The philosophical study of moral values and rules.’ There are 3 different scopes of ethics. They are: 1. Meta-Ethics 2. Normative Ethics 3. Applied Ethics 1. Meta-ethics: Meta-ethics comprises the area of situational ethics and deals with logical questions like ‘What do we mean by ‘freedom’ and ‘determinism’ etc. It delves into the nature of ethical properties, attitudes, and judgments.
