Dong Hyun Suh Mosaic I Captone Project: Laozi’s Daodejing; Conversation between Laozi and Gilgamesh Sheila Paulos May 3, 2009 The great meeting Gilgamesh is out wandering the world in search of new adventures, monsters to kill, and people to conquer. He hopes to one day obtain the immortality that he covets. While wandering a road, he comes upon a lone wanderer, Laozi. Laozi: You have the look of an impatient man upon you. May I ask why? Gilgamesh: I have no time to waste with you, old man! Time is always against us mortals, and I have much to do. Laozi: No good comes from hurrying, young one. I recognize you , though. You are the king of Uruk. Shouldn’t you be back home protecting and ruling over your people? Gilgamesh: Well, if you must know I’m on the road looking for monsters to kill, and quests to solve. Laozi: Such a waste. What do you hope to accomplish by doing that? Are you looking to make a name for yourself? You’re already a king.
