Digestion : Biochemical breakdown process where food broken down by mechanical and chemical processes 4. Absorption : Uptake of nutrients, small molecules, water and electrolytes from the GI tract 4 Major Layers of Digestive tract: From innermost to outermost 1. Mucosa: Lines the luminal surface. 2.
