Design Driver The Design Driver represents the Reasonable Worst Case h Reads the Road h Act on Feelings, Impulse, Attitude, and Frustration h Not an Analytical Engineer h Performs at 90th to 99th Percentile Expectancy “Predisposition of people to believe that things will happen or be arranged in a certain way.” Drivers will react more quickly to situations they expect to encounter. Expectancy influences speed and accuracy of driver information processing. h Continuity: Immediate past experience expected to continue h Uniformity: Past experience expected to continue h Event: If it did not happen before it is not expected to happen now h Temporal: for cyclic events – longer a state is observed the more driver will assume it is likely to change
