Reflection on Language Awareness and the Meaning of GrammarIf someone had asked me before I started taking this course about my confidence in mygrammar skills, I would have given myself a nine out of ten. However, after going through thismodule my confidence took a hit. Being a native born American and speaking English as mynative language, I learned grammar mainly through my parents at an early age, school, and byreading books focusing on sentence structures and grammar. I feel very fortunate enough to havebeen able to learn and now be able to speak Chinese. By learning another language, I underwentthe same learning processes I went through as a child to learn English. It showed me theimportance of correct language structure because without it, communication becomes very slowand painful for both the listener and the speaker.
