Irias 1 Running Head: HD-DVD versus Blu-ray Week 7 Assignment 2: HD-DVD versus Blu-ray Nathalie Irias CIS 512 - Advanced Computer Architecture Dr. Romy Lu Strayer University May 19, 2019
Irias 2 DVD versus Blu-ray DVDs are now an option for digital content that has lost its popularity due to the introduction of streaming services and Blu Ray. Large computer companies such as Sony, Phillips and Intel were promoting the usage of DVDs since they made DVD players. DVDs players, however, do not vary in terms of capabilities and controls. One DVD can be played at a time just like Blu Rays. Playback speeds are usually the same. The real differences come in design and overall dimensions. Blu Ray was developed to provide the same playback capabilities but with better pixel quality and to match the output on the modern televisions. Sony was the primary creator of the Blur Ray disk. They also designed some of the first players and recorders for the disk format.
