DIMENSIONS OF PERSONAL IDENTITYDimensions of Personal IdentityPersonal Identity CollageDimensions of Personal IdentityBased on Arredondo’s theory on the “Dimensions of Personal Identity”, the images provided can be used as a model to get a complete view of people as well as an academic tool (Arredondo et al., 1996). The pictures can be used to identify and highlight who we are as people based on the similarities and differences of our subcultures and used to progress the discussion of inclusion and diversity. The dimensions are broken into three categories (A, B, andC) and each representing different characteristics of our personal profile. Dimension “A” represents the “fixed” characteristics that a person was born into such as age, race, sex, and ethnicity. For this dimension I chose the male silhouette as it represents my gender and the 2
DIMENSIONS OF PERSONAL IDENTITYjersey with the number 38 representing my current age. These are important because the identifythe aspects of how someone sees as an individual. Dimension “C” represents our historical, political, and global contexts that make up our individuality.
