History 21 Fall 2008 Milligan; TAs: Hoenig; Steplyk STUDY GUIDE FOR MID-TERM TEST The mid-term test takes place on Wednesday February 20 you as much time as possible).  The test will be approx. 50 minutes in duration; and you need to  provide  your own PSU-sanctioned bluebooks  (you are prohibited from bringing in any notes, study cards,  outlines, prepared answers etc.). The test will be comprised of TWO PARTS: ----------1)  Short Answer Identifications  (pick any  four of eight IDs); --------- 2)   Full-length essay question  (just do one essay---you will have 4 essay questions to choose   from  (all four of which will be on the test); try to give yourself 25 minutes or so to write this essay, and, in  terms of the length, look to have the essay fill up half to two-thirds or more of your bluebook) -----------the Identifications section is  worth 40%  of the overall test grade; the essay is  worth 60% -------------------A LITTLE MORE REGARDING THE IDENTIFICATIONS These are short answers of around a paragraph in length (approx. 4-5 sentences total for each ID).  Your  task for each one of the 4 IDs that you pick is to:  provide key, relevant facts so as to “identify” the person,  event, concept ---the “who,” “what,” “when,” “how.” In addition,  you need to add  a final sentence or two  explaining the   “larger historical significance ” of the ID.  What is the larger importance of the ID in regard to the  broader themes, developments evident in the course?
