Dillon Clements Professor Ford English 110 4 February 2008 Confidence: Man’s Worst Enemy Confidence – one’s best friend or their worst enemy. An incoming college freshman green in the ways of the world may be glowing with unbridled confidence, at least initially. Once a student enters their classroom doors however that confidence may turn from a bright and healthy glow to a dim flickering light hardly visible to those around them. This seems to happen at universities all over with no regards to location or to how prepared one thought they were entering the next step of life. In Jack Meiland’s article he elaborates in his essay “The Difference Between High School and College” why reasons matter and how the relevancy of these reasons affect the confidence of students undergoing the transfer of high school to college. The human mind is tricky one to attempt to understand. We can believe what we choose and take that as fact when in all actuality our mind is guiding us down the wrong
