DREAMS This is a normal part of sleep. It occurs several times at night. On the average, it lasts 10 minutes for the first dream and the time on each successive dream increases. Dreams occur in each 90 minutes interval. In an extensive research, Calvin Hall in 1966, found that dreams represent everyday events. According to the research findings, People generally see in the dreams, familiar room, friends, enemies, employer, and parents. The general activities in the dreams, people engage in running, jumping, sitting, talking. THEORIES OF DREAM 1. The psychoanalytic theory. 2. Activation-synthesis hypothesis. The psychoanalytic theory of dream Freud wrote his book “Interpretation of Dreams” in 1900.According to him, dreams are wishfullfilment. That means, people tend to express their unconscious, unfulfilled desires in dream. The needs of the individuals are not directly fulfilled; they are symbolically represented in dreams.
