Sarah Frank The tsunami that took place last year in the South has made a profound impact on my life. I have realized, I can’t think of just me. There are many people who are hurting. There are people nobody cares about. Society has cast-offs. I have always been interested in politics and between the combination of this interest and the way I feel these people’s pain has been a strong influence on my major. For this reason, I am majoring in Political Science, and taking classes to get a minor in Spanish. I have a strong interest in making life better for people who do not have rights. Unformatted text preview: Toy Town, and seen parents who have no money to celebrate Christmas with their children. I have seen people at the Back to School fair sobbing, because without that outreach, their children would not be adequately prepared for school. I see these things, and know they are wrong. I want to make a change. I want there to be opportunities for people who are willing to work hard. I want to lobby for changes in policy so that people are unable to spend their whole lives on welfare. I want them to be given chances to succeed. As Andy Warhol once said, “ They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” I want to change them myself....
