Tovar 1Ruben TovarProfessor Walker English 1A - 137024 September 2017America & IAs I read through this selection written by Anzia Yezierska, I got a sense of what it might have been like for the countless men and women coming from foreign soil seeking to share in that great old “American Dream,” as we call it today. This essay which was written almost a century ago, shows us some themes which live on today. I not only think that this essay is applicable for today, but it also gives some revelation to the views of America at large. Aside from some of the interactions Anzia experienced with Americans, I was perplexed in the way shepresented her struggles trying to find her place in America. It struck me as bitter, in the most justifiable way that is. Her story is not only empowering but it is insightful to the manner of how one views what it is to be American.
