1. Freud: the origin and development of psychoanalysis Carl Jung was a follower of Freud. He had the idea that the unconscious mind also holds our collective unconscious, which are experiences that are inherited from our ancestors. Another psychologist, Alfred Alder agreed with Freud that looking at people’s childhood is important. However, Adler disagreed with Freud about the sexual feelings and problems are the reason later psychological problems, he believed that social problems are more important factors. Freud states that the id is the unconscious motivation that people have for aggression and sex. Evolutionary psychologists would say that Freud called the id is actually our animal drive to reproduce and fight for resources. Today, we possess many of the instincts that exists in animals. According to this opinion, humans are genetically motivated for sex because all the animals must preproduce and pass genes to next generation.
