I don't think I have ever had a chance to view this film prior to today. I was very intrigued by the content and was wowed by the reactions of the children. A Class Divided has a strong message; in that we are all people regardless of our skin color, there is no justification in the wrongful actions against someone for the way that they look. I was honestly fascinated at how the children reacted and ultimately understood the exercise. These third graders took an exercise, didn't question it, and ended up understanding how it made them and the other colored eyed people feel. I can see how ethical issues could have risen because the exercise was done with such young children, they could have reacted completely different than the way they did. Imagine if that little boy did more than just punch his friend because of his eye color, or if these children did not understand the debriefing and continued daily tasks throughout school thinking that they were superior because their eye color was on top the last day of the exercise. As a child, it may be confusing to relate one situation to a more grand situation, and this exercise could have confused them more.
