Barlines: what measures are separated by. Meter: organization of beats into regular groups. strong beat: Stressed beats.weak beat: unstressed beats. duple meter: measures of two beats each. First beat stressed. triple meter: measures of three beats each. First beat is stressed. quadruple meter: measures of four beats each. First beat is stressed and sometimes the third beat is stressed also. Accent: note played with special emphasis. Syncopation: occurs when a stress is placed on weak beat.
