Chirality is a property of low symmetry organic molecules –but we can start with our hands and feet. Think of all the times: you’ve slipped the right shoe on the left foot. you had instantaneous feedback that shape of the right is different. often the mirror image of the left. Our hands and feet and millions of chemical compounds are what is known as Chiral. They have a specific spatial arrangement with out a line of symmetry. 2

4.1, 4.3 Chiral molecules and objects have 2 properties in common: No mirror plane (this is the most apparent property) No center of symmetry (harder for novice chemists to observe) 5 Solomons, T. W. G.; Fryhle, C. B. Organic Chemistry , 10th ed.; 2012.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
