To determine acceleration due to gravity((g = 9.81 m/s 2 ) by measuring the time period of a simple pendulum that cause uncertainties and errors occur during the experiment, and how they affect the result. A simple pendulum is a weight suspended by a string or rod so that it is allowed to swing in a vertical plane. The data produced by the experimenting had to be carefully measured and analyzed using a pendulum (steel ball, cross bar, and string), a protractor, and a computer or stopwatch to record down the time. The measurements needed were the length(L) or the string and the period of the pendulum(T). Knowing the period and the length, and ultimately calculating the value of acceleration due to gravity(g), as using the formula: T=2 π √ L/g. Therefore, we can record the data. The uncertainty for T 2 would be obtained the formula that involves T and uncertainty for T. And then, understand the relationship between the the period, T will be affected by the amplitude, θ . Procedure 1. The lab’s materials were included a pendulum of a certain mass attached to bottom of a string. A ruler, protractor and timer were used for each part of the experiment. 2. We looked at the timer and stopped at 10 seconds and recorded down the Reaction time, and we tried this three times, and calculated the average of this reaction time.
