SIOP LESSON PLAN OUTLINE 2 SIOP Lesson Plan Outline Content area academic standard Reading, Writing, and Communicating The standards reflect the read-write connection and the relationship between building knowledge to create texts to convey knowledge. Students will use texts efficiently to understand others’ experiences and to be able to effectively express their own perspective (Colorado Department of Education, 2017). ELP standard Construct grade-appropriate oral and written claims and support them with reasoning and evidence. Level 2 – Student can express an opinion or preference about a familiar topic and student will show emerging control Level 3 - Student can express an opinion or preference about a familiar topic or story and shows developing control. Level 4 - Student can express an opinion or preference about a variety of topics or stories and shows
