WEEK TWO SUMMARY 2 Week Two Summary Reading, Writing, and Learning in ESL Chapter 1 Part of the focus in chapter one is how teaching and learning have changed as the world changes in the 21 st century. There are many challenges as people are moving to the United States for the opportunities available even when they may not be fluent in English or know little English. Because of this, there are more students enrolled in schools where English is not their first language and educators must be proactive to ensure they receive equal educational opportunities as those students where English is their native language. It is important for teachers to learn about the students, cultural differences, and what they like and are comfortable with. By doing so, teachers will build a relationship with English learners and help them to acclimate to the new environment. When students feel welcomed and are comfortable, they have a better opportunity of learning and growing. Instructors need to find ways that are best for each student to learn. Many students are adept at electronics, so one may utilize programs on the computer to help the students with lessons. It is imperative to maximize student participation so that they have practice and receive feedback so they will improve.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
