1 Leilani Alvarez Professor Garcia Child Development March 6, 2019 Assignment 1: Interview with a new mom Q: How was the behavior of the newborn different from what you had expected? A: When Leonardo was born, he rarely cried or had medical problems as my previous child. I was prepared for constant crying, and allergies, and sleepless nights, but he was the sweetest baby. Leonardo was such a breeze compared to my previous baby, although I was unable to breastfeed, which causes constipation for my baby he was a sweet child, I am grateful to have given birth to a healthy child. Q: In what ways did having a new baby alter your lifestyle? A: Having Leonardo was obviously a life changer, and I was deeply afraid to be a new mother Again, there is an 11 year age gap between my youngest child and Leonardo. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to go back to changing diapers. My youngest child was already 12 and my oldest was 13, I had finally had time for myself and my kids to bound but having a child again I knew my life was going back to sleepless nights. But I can't imagine my life without my sweet boy he truly was a gift and my older kids love him like crazy and my oldest spoil him, I know I complained but my children are worth it all. Q: What was the hardest aspect of having a new child? A: When I had Leilani my first born, it was all completely new and a new experience and then, I had Luis and he was more of a challenge he had so many allergies and asthma but Leonardo he was my unexpected child 11 years later but never a mistake. I think the hardest part was realizing that it’s not just the three of us anymore. You are now the protector of this tiny human who depends on you for everything. My three children share the same dad, but just like his brother and sister my son is being raised by a single mother. I worked hard to move forward with my life and provide for my children and I don't regret the struggles I faced because I got 3 amazing kids out of it.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
