Purpose The purpose of this lab was to determine the amount of Vitamin C in commercial tablets by redox titration. Procedure The procedure of this lab can be found on pages 68-70 in “General Chemistry CHE111L Laboratory Manual Spring 2018”. Data Tables Carbon copies of data tables have been attached to the back of this lab report. Calculations 1. # moles KI O 3 moles/ liters= molarity Trial 1: 2.98 x 1 0 4 Trial 2: moles/ .0148= .0200 Moles= 2.96 x 1 0 4 Trial 3: moles/ .0139= .0200 Moles= 2.78 x 1 0 4 2. # moles of Vitamin C in crushed 1 mole KI O 3 / 3 mole Vitamin C Trial 1: 2.98 x 1 0 4 (3) = 8.94 x 1 0 4 Trial 2: 2.96 x 1 0 4 (3) = 8.88 x 1 0 4 Trial 3: 2.78 x 1 0 4 (3) = 8.34 x 1 0 4 3. mass of Vitamin C in crushed molar mass = 176.13g Trial 1: .15746 g Trial 2: 8.88 x 1 0 4 (176.13g / 1 mole) = .15499 g Trial 3: 8.34 x 1 0 4 (176.13g / 1 mole)= .1468 g 4. Mass of Vitamin C in Tablet (mass 1 tablet) (mass vitamin c/ mass of crushed) Trial 1: .4746 g Trial 2: 0.636 (.15499/ .200) = .4928 g

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
