Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to investigate a series of precipitation reactions involving Group 1A and 2A ions, write net ionic equations for these reactions, and use one of these reactions to synthesize and characterize a sample of chalk. Pre Lab Calculate the following in order to synthesize 0.220 g CaC O 3 . Keep in mind the formula for calcium chloride will be the dihydrate, CaC l 2 . 2 H 2 O . Please make sure you calculate molar masses accordingly. The molar mass of the dihydrate will simply include the mass of two water molecules in addition to the mass of CaC l 2 . 1. Number of grams of N a 2 CO 3 2. Number of grams of CaC l 2 . 2 H 2 O . Procedure The procedure for this lab can be found on pages in “General Chemistry CHE110L Laboratory

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
