Yasman Bafandkar History 19 A Professor George Knittel 11/19/2015 Chapter 5 In this chapter what I find interesting is mostly related to religion. What is interesting to me is that although Buddhism is considered to be “somewhat” different from other religions, such as Islam or Christianity, it still have some similarities as well. The reason for why I consider Buddhism to be a religion to be a religion different from Islam and Christianity is that there is no god in the Buddhist religion. One of these similarities that Buddhism has with other world dominant religions is that it was divided into two different groups. “soon after Ashoka’s time, Buddhism split into two major schools known as Theravada, or Hinayana (the lesser vehicle) and Mahayana (the greater vehicle) “ (page 76). In Christianity, we have catholic and protestant and in Islam we have sunni and shia, and in Buddhism we have Mahayana and Hinayana/ Theravada.
