Lesson Plan for Grade 6, Writing Prepared by Mary Wilson, Abby Wade, Sarah Shearer, Hailey Johnson, Elizabeth Orr OVERVIEW & PURPOSE Students will become inspired by reading articles and recipes on cooking and baking. They will develop sequencing skills and build their vocabulary to create their own recipes to be included in a class cookbook. This project encourages individuality, creativity, and group process. EDUCATION STANDARDS 1. 6.RN.3.2 Analyze how a particular sentence, paragraph, chapter, or section fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the ideas. 2. 6.RV.2.1 Use context to determine or clarify the meaning of words and phrases. 3. 6.W.3.3 Write narrative compositions in a variety of forms that organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally and logically, using a variety of transition words, phrases, and clauses to convey sequence and signal shifts from one time frame or setting to another OBJECTIVES 1.
