Focus Student Debriefing Notes Template The template below is designed to help you present your insights pertaining to your FS’s mathematical thinking and development as concisely and as organized as possible. By no means are you obligated to follow this template exactly, but I thought it would be a helpful alternative to the format in which you answer question in the order they were presented. I suggest you focus on about two telling episodes . These episodes should be preceded by a description of the activity (including a rationale for why this activity was selected) , including the mathematical idea to be explored and why it was selected. Each episode should include a description of how the FS approached the problem, the dialogue that took place (what key questions you asked and how the student responded), and what this told you about what the FS knows or struggles with (this is the analysis, and most likely will be supported by relevant references to the literature) . The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
